Complete Roof Replacement - Victorian Home
Full tear-off and replacement of a 100-year-old Victorian home. Installed Owens Corning Duration shingles in Onyx Black with new ice and water shield protection.
Project Overview
This beautiful Victorian home in Center City had its original slate roof replaced decades ago with basic 3-tab shingles that had reached the end of their lifespan. The homeowners were experiencing multiple leaks, especially around the turret and the complex roofline intersections typical of Victorian architecture. The intricate roof design with multiple valleys, dormers, and steep pitches required careful planning and execution.
Expert Execution
We performed a complete tear-off down to the decking, which revealed several areas of rotted wood that needed replacement. After installing new plywood decking where needed, we applied a full ice and water shield underlayment on all valleys, eaves, and around penetrations. The main field received synthetic underlayment for superior protection. We installed Owens Corning Duration architectural shingles in Onyx Black, which complement the home's historic character while providing modern performance. Special attention was given to the turret, which required custom flashing work and careful shingle installation to maintain weather-tight integrity.
